All the hidden treasures of island life...

Taste shellfish straight from the sea...

If you're keen to taste local fish and shellfish then there are a few options. Angus Campbell from Kilbride Shellfish is always keen to help out, David Steele from Uist Sea Tours or Salar at Loch Carnan.

From Stornoway Black Pudding to local eggs

MacLean's Bakery, Benbecula is a hidden treasure trove of locally produced goods from local lamb to black pudding. So if you fancy a locally made snack, this is the place to head to. Find fresh eggs  at Kennedy's, Bornish road-end or Creagorry, opposite Puffin Shop, pick up + honesty box.

A wee dram

Fancy sipping on a dram while someone else does the cooking? Local hotels Borrodale, Polochar and Lochboisdale are all within 10-15 minutes taxi drive and all offer local food with a range of whiskies from all over Scotland, and of course the renowned Harris Gin.

Tea & Scone, and Hebridean Gifts

The Hebrides are renowned for their hospitality and Uist is no exception.

If you feel like a well earned tea (or coffee!) then try these delights...

Kildonan Museum, The Askernish Golf Course, Lochboisdale Cafe, Hebridean Jewellery

And if you've just too many adventures planned with no time for tea then you can always pick up a take away hot chocolate from the Island Deli in Benbecula.

Thanks to the beautiful light, wide open skies and miles of unspoilt beaches, Uist is a well known attraction for artists.  If you'd like to take something pretty back with you to remind you of your holiday, then you could start here.....Uist Craft Producers, Art on the Map
